Dr Andy Baxter, Head of Product Development

In a career spanning 25 years, Andy has held senior technical and management positions in major pharmaceutical companies, emerging biotech companies and small virtual pharmaceutical companies. Companies include, Pfizer, Chiroscience-Celltech, Arakis and Serentis. Andy has in-depth experience of the drug discovery process leading programmes through lead generation, lead optimisation and candidate selection. He is an inventor or co-inventor of over 60 patent applications. In addition, Andy has many years of experience managing development programmes and has a broad technical and quality understanding of pre-clinical, chemistry, manufacture and controls (CMC), regulatory and early clinical operations. Andy has been successfully involved in both in-licensing and out-licensing projects and has managed collaborations between biotech and major pharmaceutical companies on a multidisciplinary level.

Mr Gareth Thomas, Head of Sales and Marketing

Gareth is responsible for developing Altacor’s capability to interface with the changing NHS customer base and environment.

Gareth has 27 years experience within the Pharmaceutical industry, across a variety of senior sales, marketing and operational roles with companies such as Rhone Poulenc Rorer, Yamanouchi and Pfizer. Prior to joining Altacor, Gareth was Head of Primary Care Operations and Head of Sales Force Development for AstraZeneca UK. In these roles he was responsible for developing the organizational structure and building the organizational capability that successfully introduced effective Key Account Management and Market Access Frameworks across the business.

Rob Sprawson, CFO

Rob joined Altacor as Chief Financial Officer in October 2011. Rob has more than 15 years of professional and commercial experience providing strategic, financial and corporate finance advice to Boards and shareholders, especially in the pharmaceutical and technology industries, to maximise shareholder value. His previous roles included Chief Financial and Commercial Officer of Warwick Ventures Limited, the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Warwick, Chief Financial Officer of an AIM list drug development company and Senior Manager, Corporate Finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Rob is also the Finance Director of Lumora Limited, a molecular diagnostic company, and holds a FCA and a BA Hons in Accounting and Financial Analysis.
